Division of labour or specialization is the specialization of cooperative labour in specific, circumscribed tasks and roles, intended to increase the productivity of labour. Historically the growth of a more and more complex division of labour is closely associated with the growth of total output and trade, the rise of capitalism, and of the complexity of industrialization processes. Later, the division of labour reached the level of a scientifically-based management practice with the time and motion studies associated with Taylorism. Basically, it's a working society that does many different jobs. Example: A few people do farming, a few people do pottery, and a few people are blacksmiths. The society works together to make the city wealthier. Trade and Economic InterdependenceThe division of labor makes trade necessary and is the source of economic interdependence. In my last letter, I told your something about the division of labour. Right at the beginning, when men used to live by hunting only, there was very little division of work. Everybody hunted and they could, with difficulty, get enough to eat. The division of work or labour must have begun between men and women the men hunting and the women staying at home and looking after the children and domestic animals. who wrote this letter? Multicellular organisms have division of labour (by having specialised cells); even a single cell has that. so how a single cell accomplishes division of labour.?? Asked by tezuka kunimitsu - Sun Oct 26 03:07:06 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. It is all amazing. Every cell has specific cell organelles. Every organelle performs a specific task. e.g, In plant cells, the chloroplast performs Photosynthesis, Mitochondria carries Respiration, Golgi carries secretion, Ribosome carries protein synthesis etc etc. So, this clearly indicates that a cell has its own division of labour as you see it in full organisms.
