An art movement is a tendency or style in art with a specific common philosophy or goal, followed by a group of artists during a restricted period of time, or, at least, with the heyday of the movement defined within usually a number of years.

What art movements would you say these designers fit into?
Q. Yes, I realize they are both very different. I need help with this for my design class. Here are the two artists: Jeremy Prasatik Adolphe Mouron Cassandre If you only know one of them, that's fine too. All help is appreciated.

A. Modernism had a progressive, optimistic and liberal outlook (liberal in terms of looking at human endeavour as forward looking and, ultimately perfectible). In art terms the key themes are flatness, and purity of colour, the importance of form, colour or line. Post-modernism has no meta-narrative, that is, it does not have a "style book" or an overarching methodology. It references past art, design and architectural movements, without reproducing them as pastiche, homage or with reverence. A post-modern building may have georgian, neo-classical pillars, a neo-gothic entrance on a building that could be described as in the (modernist) international style, an example would be the Grande Arche in Paris, that references the Arch De… [cont.]
